I just learned that PORT CITY SHAKEDOWN will be out on Kindle June 15. Cool, I think. But how things have changed since DEADLINE was published in 1993. Barely an Internet (Al Gore was still tinkering), no e-mail, no website, no blog, and sure has heck no Twitter. I have a friend named Cal who swears by his Kindle (He says you can have it if you pry it from his cold, dead hands. Come to think of it, that could be arranged in these books. A guy is found dead on the street, his Kindle on the pavement beside him. He’s underlined a certain passage. It says … )
Anyway, if you’re a Kindle fan, let me know and tell me why. I’m wondering if that’s the future and these pages of ground-up trees are soon to be a thing of the past.

In PORT CITY SHAKEDOWN, the first Brandon Blake novel, Brandon gets a full dose of bad guys. A brawl in a funeral home introduces him to Joel Fuller, a sociopathic hustler. Fuller is fresh out of jail and determined to take Brandon out—after Fuller and his sidekick Kelvin shake him down.
Rocky isn’t a tough guy. He’s a skinny little kid with crooked glasses, and he shouldn’t be homeless in Portland, Maine. When McMorrow and Roxanne pluck him from under the stomping feet of a gang of street kids, Rocky latches onto McMorrow–and drags him into a world of murder, both old and new. Why is McMorrow protecting Rocky? The cops want to know. Why is Rocky on the run? McMorrow wants to know. Why does death follow in Rocky’s wake? Jack and Roxanne need to find out before they’re added to the list.
I love my Kindle (Version #1). Would love to have the newer version which is even cooler. It goes with me wherever I go – a lot easier than carrying around the 5 books and Wall Street Journal. I often find it easier to read than a regular book (for which, really, there is no substitute but….) because of the gray background and the ability to change the type size.
I am inquiring about Jack Mc Morrow #9, Is there a date for publication yet. Thank you in advance.
Richard
