ABOUT THE BOOKSTHE JACK MCMORROW MYSTERIESBRANDON BLAKE: A CRIME NOVEL

Welcome friends!

Glad you’re here, checking out the new website. Let me know what you think, suggestions, etc. I think it’s quite handsome, despite my mug at the top of the page.

The site was designed by Karen Oh, at House of Cakes design in Brooklyn, N.Y. If you’re looking for a web designer, give Karen a holler. She’s a good person, very talented, and a Mainer at heart. I wholeheartedly recommend her. Tell her Gerry sent you.

And now on to … the books.

portcity 150x228 Welcome friends!

PORT CITY SHAKEDOWN, Brandon Blake mystery No. 1, has just arrived at Down East Books from the printer. I’m psyched. This one introduces Brandon Blake, a young Portland, Maine boat bum with one big mystery in his past. Brandon, who lives on a vintage Chris Craft cruiser, was orphaned when his wild-child single mom was lost at sea in the presumed sinking of a cruising sailboat.

Interesting word, presumed. The yacht disappears and is presumed lost. All of the people on board are presumed dead.

Brandon is kind of a hard guy, sees everything in black and white. He wants to be a cop, so he can catch bad guys. He’s riding with Portland P.D. when he crosses paths with a local thug named Fuller. Fuller latches on, just as Brandon’s past comes back to haunt him. Maybe kill him.

In PC SHAKEDOWN, you’ll also meet Griffin, a good guy and good cop. Aspiring writer Mia, Brandon’s new and first girlfriend. And some charming people from the world of big boats and bucks.
Hope you enjoy. It’s been fun getting to know these characters. Unfortunately, some of them won’t be back. Goes with the territory. If they’d wanted to stick around, they should have signed up for a romance novel.

Love the look of the new website and can’t WAIT to read Port City Shakedown! I’ve been waiting (sometimes not very patiently) for you to write a new book!

Last week I rushed into the Racine Library with only 10 minutes left before closing.

I’m a “bookie” and always have one with me when I leave the house.

My father always said “A book can be your best friend.” And I have passed that on to my kids and grandchildren.

I went to the mystery sheves and the first book that caught my eye was Port City Shakedown. Having been to Portland many times over the years, I dashed to the desk and checked out the book…it was great.

You now have a new fan and I look forward to reading your earlier novels in the coming year.

Thanks, Bill. I’m glad to make your acquaintance and to know Brandon has a new friend in Wisconsin. And I love your dad’s advice. I grew up in a house full of books, as well. We were never without two or three books, replenished with weekly trips to the library. Please make sure to spread the word about Blake and McMorrow to your “bookie” friends. Hope the books help you pass a pleasant winter. Gerry
