When I got into the writing game, I didn’t think I’d be deciding people’s futures.
I say this having NOT reached for the delete key when I got yet another email from some Scottish rocker looking to make the big time. Gerry Boyle, music producer and brother of the incomparable Susan Boyle, do your own job and leave me to mine. But I have a soft heart, so I open up the email from steviepopstar1 and there’s yet another music file and reference to some nice things I had to say about Stevie and the Laymanites (is every musician in the UK named Stevie?) in an earlier post. Says steviepopstar, “have they got the christmas number one dont think so have a listen and let us know what you think batman the song is called 01 XMAS CHEER by the purple doves”
so I do have a listen. Sure enough, it’s a proper Christmas rocker. Shades of the Beatles annual Christmas song, it’s got a driving bass line, builds to a thumping chorus. It even has bells. I like it. A lot. So give it a listen, as soon as I can post it. Darn wma file.
I think I’ll keep my day job.

In PORT CITY SHAKEDOWN, the first Brandon Blake novel, Brandon gets a full dose of bad guys. A brawl in a funeral home introduces him to Joel Fuller, a sociopathic hustler. Fuller is fresh out of jail and determined to take Brandon out—after Fuller and his sidekick Kelvin shake him down.
Rocky isn’t a tough guy. He’s a skinny little kid with crooked glasses, and he shouldn’t be homeless in Portland, Maine. When McMorrow and Roxanne pluck him from under the stomping feet of a gang of street kids, Rocky latches onto McMorrow–and drags him into a world of murder, both old and new. Why is McMorrow protecting Rocky? The cops want to know. Why is Rocky on the run? McMorrow wants to know. Why does death follow in Rocky’s wake? Jack and Roxanne need to find out before they’re added to the list.
So yeah, you might be the perfect person to setup some form letter replies and have them available at the click of a mouse.
Dear Music Type Person -
Sorry, Wrong Gerry Boyle. Try GerryBoyleMusicGuy@yahoo.com – he’s the one you are looking for.
Cheers
The Original Gerry Boyle.
I have no idea what program you are using for email, but I promise it has a stationary or automated type response feature somewhere.
I’ll try it. Send all the Stevies in the UK on with their search for that big break.
Just a quick report from one of the Stevie’s from Scotland! Bought “Pretty Dead” and liking it so far! Sorry for adding to the junk folder of your e-mail mate!
